Silly niggas now a days do not take the time to think before they make a statement. One that I have heard over the years that rubs me the wrong way is " Ya'll all followers...You all follow that man." They are making reference to our Master teacher.
To follow is to imitate, obey...being a follower is synonymous with being a disciple, an adherent, a partisan if you will.
When it comes to nubian (black) folks aligning themselves with another nubian of greater knowledge or wealth; niggas will bash you and call you names. Yet when the caucasians do it...it is called getting a good education, being productive. See lots of negroes believe that if you go under a white man or his society then you are a responsible individual. Truth does not have a color...it is what it is.
We should follow in facts to become on the level as the leader; so we can put aside our following ways and therefore be a leader for the next batch of followers. It is a process of evolution. A student going to college to be a doctor has to sit in an institution and humble himself/herself to the instructor and the lessons. They are not at a point in their lives where they can go and be a doctor...they have to go through a method of building first. They follow what the instructor says, they learn to reason and acquire a critical mind to the processes and information being presented. Before they can become that doctor, that lawyer, that pastor; they must follow. As a child you followed the rules of your elders to lead you a point where you could lead for yourself. Being a follower is not a negative thing...it is a necessity. Being a follower when you have reached the point of being a leader is when being a follower becomes destructive.
No man nor woman in this world has self built information. We learn from externals, books, media and experiences. A lot of us pick and choose what we agree with or what seems to be easiest...not so much as what is correct and incorrect for us as a people. This mode of thinking (Picking & Choosing) is what is responsible for a large part of the confusion in our lives. We don't know our laws,
Spiritual studies are not done to accomodate you. You must align yourself with the disciplines and the teachings in order to attain its benefits. The difficulty in any form of study is the opinions given. In Islam we call the words of men HADITHS...these are the opinions of men. It is unwise to base your life on the opinions of others. Deal with the facts. Therefore when you have one that has undergone the trials and tribulations on your course; it is wiser to learn from such an individual. We all are followers before we become effective leaders.
